Find text in a web

You can search for text in one or more pages in the current web. You can either search the entire web, or select the pages you want to search.

  1. Switch to Folders view.
  2. If you do not want to search each page in the web, select the pages you want to search.
  3. On the Edit menu, click Find.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • To search for text in all pages in the current web, click All pages.
    • To search for text in pages you have selected, click Selected pages.
  5. In the Find what box, type the text you want to search for.
  6. To find text only if it matches a whole word, select the Match whole word only check box.
  7. To find text only if it matches the capitalization of the text you typed, select the Match case check box.
  8. To find text in the HTML code, select the Find in HTML check box. For example, you can search for text that is not visible or editable on the page, such as the page title you set in page properties.
  9. Click Find.
  10. When FrontPage lists the pages on which the text was found, do one of the following:
    • To add a task for a page, click the page in the list, and then click Add Task. You can complete the task at any time in Tasks view.
    • To open a page in Page view, double-click the page in the list. The first instance of the text is highlighted. Click Find Next to find the next occurrence. Click Back To Web to return to the list of pages

Find and replace text in a web

You can search for and replace text in one or more pages in the current web. You can either search the entire web, or select the pages to search.

  1. Switch to Folders view.
  2. If you do not want to search each page in the web, select the pages you want to search.
  3. On the Edit menu, click Replace.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • To search for text in all pages in the current web, click All pages.
    • To search for text in pages you have selected, click Selected pages.
  5. In the Find what box, type the text you want to search for.
  6. In the Replace with box, type the replacement text.
  7. To find text only if it matches a whole word, select the Match whole word only check box.
  8. To find text only if it matches the capitalization of the text you typed, select the Match case check box.
  9. To find text in the HTML code, select the Find in HTML check box. For example, you can search for text that is not visible or editable on the page, such as the page title you set in page properties.
  10. Click Find.
  11. When FrontPage lists the pages on which the text was found, do one of the following:
    • To add a task for a page, click the page in the list, and then click Add Task. You can complete the task at any time in Tasks view.
    • To open a page in Page view, double-click the page in the list. The first instance of the text is highlighted. You can click Replace to replace this occurrence, click Find Next to find the next occurrence, or click Replace All to replace all occurrences on the current page.

      When you have reviewed all occurrences of the text on the page, you are prompted to save and close the page, and continue to the next page on which the text was found.
