Set frame margins

When a frames page is viewed in a browser, the distance between the edge of a frame and the edge of the page displayed inside that frame is called the frame margin.
- In Page view, open the frames page you want to modify, and then click the Normal tab.
- Right-click in the frame whose margins you want to change, and then click Frame Properties on the shortcut menu.
- In the Margins area, set the Width and Height, in pixels, for the frame margins.
Notes
- If frame borders are turned on, the frame margin is measured from the inside edge of the frame border instead of the inside edge of the frame. In other words, a frame border 3 pixels wide plus a frame margin set to 12 pixels wide would equal a total frame margin of 15 pixels.
- If the page displayed in the frame also has margins, the margins of the page will be added to the frame margin.
Set spacing between frames

When a frames page is viewed in a browser, you can specify the amount of spacing between the outside edges of adjoining frames.
- In Page view, open the frames page you want to modify, and then click the Normal tab.
- On the File menu, click Properties, and then click the Frames tab.
- Type the amount of spacing, in pixels, in the Frame spacing box. The default for most Web browsers is 2 pixels.
Tips
- If the Show borders check box is selected, the borders between frames will be as wide as the amount of spacing between frames.
- To create invisible frames, clear the Show borders check box and set Frames spacing to 0.
Set the initial page displayed in a frame
When a frames-compatible browser downloads a frames page, it reads the frame information and then displays an initial page in each frame. You need to specify the initial page for the browser to display in each frame.
- In Page view, open the frames page you want to modify, and then click the Normal tab. Click the frame whose initial page you want to set.
- To select an existing page in your web as the initial page to display in that frame, click Set Initial Page in the frame, and then select the page you want to display.
- To create a new page and set it as the initial page to display in that frame, click New Page in that frame. Microsoft FrontPage creates a new page in the frame, and the new page is automatically set as the initial page.
Tip If an initial page has been already been set, and you want to change it, right-click in the frame, click Frame Properties on the shortcut menu, and then in the Initial page box, type the URL of the initial page you want to display. Or, click Browse to locate the page.
